Beechcraft Travel Air

Our Travel Air was a 1961 model. It had Lycoming IO-360’s, 180 hp each.

It has the mod for the speed slope windshield, nice paint and interior, plus the previous owner spent a LOT of money on the panel.

It was super nice. 🙂

My oldest daughter. She is a pilot, and enjoyed flying the Travel Air.

This airplane was a very nice flying machine. The controls were quite harmonious and light, typical of Beechcraft.

While we really liked the airplane, the combination of it’s weight and horsepower resulted in a less than stellar single engine performance. It is fine for the flat lands, but marginal for the Western US with it’s mountains.

That’s why we decided to go for a Baron.
